LUBBOCK, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team will face their third power-five conference opponent in a week Tuesday night at 6:30 when they face Texas Tech University (Big 12) at United Supermarkets Arena.

The Lions (1-2) faced 23rd-ranked LSU (SEC) to open the season Tuesday, Nov. 6, 25th-ranked Nebraska (Big 10) Sunday and will wrap-up the week in Lubbock against the Red Raiders.

"It's all part of the process of getting better," said SLU men's head basketball coach Jay Ladner. "As long as we are improving from game-to-game and learning from our mistakes then we are making the progress we need to."

SLU will be looking to bounce back after an 87-35 loss at Nebraska Sunday when they face TTU. The Red Raiders (2-0) finished the 2017-18 season 27-10 and advanced to the Elite Eight before losing to eventual national champions Villanova 71-59.

Texas Tech, under third-year head coach Chris Beard, lost four starters from last year's Elite Eight squad and are picked seventh in the preseason Big 12 Coaches' Poll. The Red Raiders are led by lone returning starter Jarrett Culver. The sophomore from Lubbock was third on the team in scoring last year (11.2 ppg) and is leading the team through the first two games this year (14.0). TTU has won their first two games in convincing fashion beating Incarnate Word 87-37 in the opener and Mississippi Valley State 84-52.

"It certainly doesn't get any easier," said Ladner. "Texas Tech is very well-coached, talented and is going to play hard for 40 minutes."

Even with the difficult early schedule, the Lions have gotten terrific production from freshmen Ty Brewer (8.3 ppg, 4.2 rpg) and Parker Edwards (12.0 ppg). A native of Mandeville, Louisiana, Edwards is shooting 53 percent from the 3-point line (9-for-17). Brewer, from Meridian, Mississippi, leads the team in field goal percentage (12-for-18 for 67 percent). Senior Moses Greenwood has been the expected model of consistency (10.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg).

Southeastern has faced the Red Raiders twice in program history. The Lions fought gamely in their last meeting Dec. 30, 2011 before falling 62-54. SLU trailed by one possession for much of the game until TTU pulled away late.

After Tuesday's match-up with the Red Raiders, the Lions will return home to face Stetson at the University Center Saturday at 4 p.m.
