HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana fell Thursday in straight sets to Southland Conference-leading Stephen F. Austin, 25-13, 25-21, 25-14, at the University Center.
 
The Lady Lions (1-16, 0-5 Southland) led for most of the second set against SFA (18-2, 5-0 Southland), jumping out to a five-point advantage at the midpoint of the contest, but a late rally by the Ladyjacks put Southeastern down two sets to none.
 
After the Lady Lions tied the third set, 9-9, on a block by Sam Gomez (Mandeville, Louisiana), SFA pulled away to take the match.
 
Caroline Golden (Mandeville) led Southeastern with six kills. Gomez and Jodi Edo (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) added kills each for the Lady Lions.
 
Haley Baker (Elkton, Maryland), Golden and Tempestt Vaughn (Beaumont, Texas) served up an ace apiece while Gomez had a hand in three of Southeastern's four blocks.
 
Michelle Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) handed out a team-high 12 assists and Baker dished out an additional nine.
 
Lexie Torres (San Antonio, Texas) led the squad with 18 digs and Golden contributed an additional 10 to the defensive effort.

Southeastern continues its homestand Saturday at 1 p.m. in the University Center against Central Arkansas (14-4, 4-1 Southland).
 
Admission is free and fans are asked to enter the arena down the ramp at Gate 3. Volleyball posters and magnet schedules will be available in the Fan Zone.
