HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Despite one of its better offensive performances of the season, Southeastern Louisiana wound up on the wrong end of the scoreboard Thursday, dropping a Southland Conference match to Sam Houston State, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 25-16, at Johnson Coliseum.
 
The Lady Lions (2-19, 1-8 Southland), led by strong performances from Jodi Edo, Sam Gomez and Elyssa Purcell, turned in a .204 attack percentage, but it was not enough to hold off the Bearkats (16-5, 8-1 Southland).
 
Edo, a junior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, turned in a career-best 15 kills, having now achieved a new best in back-to-back matches. Purcell, a redshirt junior from Alvin, Texas, chipped in nine kills and Gomez, a sophomore from Mandeville, Louisiana, contributed eight kills with a season-best .571 attack percentage.
 
Setters Haley Baker (Elkton, Maryland) and Michelle Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) handed out 24 and 19 assists, respectively.
 
Caroline Golden, a sophomore from Mandeville, led the squad with 14 digs. Alexis Pratt, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, added another 12 for the Lady Lions.
 
Edo had a hand in three of Southeastern's five blocks, including a solo block. Baker, Golden, Maddy Katchen and Pratt each served up an ace.
