BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Southeastern dropped a pair of matches Saturday on the final day of action in the BGSU / UT Invitational.
The Lady Lions (0-6) fell in three sets to VCU (5-2), 25-13, 25-19, 25-16, at Savage Arena in Toledo, Ohio, in the morning before being swept by Bowling Green (2-3), 25-15, 25-17, 25-12, at the Stroh Center to close out the tournament.
VCU out-hit the Lady Lions .382 to .082 in the match, throwing up 12 blocks along the way.
Chloee Holden, a sophomore from Alvin, Texas, and
Sam Gomez, a freshman from Mandeville, Louisiana, led Southeastern with seven kills each.
Haley Baker dished out a team-high 21 assists. Gomez had a hand in all three Lady Lion blocks.
Lexie Torres recorded a team-leading 12 digs.
Bowling Green out-hit the Lady Lions .347 to .022 in the nightcap, serving up five aces.
Holden once again led Southeastern with seven kills. Baker handed out another 14 assists and Torres added 10 more digs.
ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Torres, a junior libero who hails from San Antonio, Texas, was named to the all-tournament team after posting 40 digs over the span of nine sets (4.44 digs per set).

NOTES
Gomez turned in the Lady Lions' best overall hitting performance of the tournament against VCU, recording seven kills on 13 attempts. She committed a lone attack error for a .462 percentage. The seven kills were a career best.

Southeastern returns to the road for three matches, Friday and Saturday, at the ISTAP Collegiate Cup Invitational in Montgomery, Alabama. The Lady Lions face host Alabama State, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. Southeastern plays a pair of matches on Sept. 9, facing off against Jacksonville at 9 a.m. and Western Carolina at 3:30 p.m.
