STARKVILLE, Miss. – Coming off two of its best offensive performances of the season, the Southeastern Louisiana attack came up short Saturday in the Maroon Classic, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16, against Mississippi State in the Newell-Grissom Building.
Southeastern (2-11) posted a .333 attack percentage in the initial set, running out to a 21-18 lead. Mississippi State (9-6) scored seven of the final eight points to claim the set and the Lady Lion offense struggled the rest of the match.

Chloee Holden (Alvin, Texas) led Southeastern with eight kills. Sophomore middle
Jodi Edo (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) added seven more kills. Junior setter
Haley Baker (Elkton, Maryland) handed out 13 assists and freshman
Michelle Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) dished out another 10 for the Lady Lions.

Savannah Alcazar led Southeastern in digs (10) for the third straight match and freshman middle
Tempestt Vaughn (Beaumont, Texas) had a hand in all six of the Lady Lions' blocks.

Southeastern returns home to open Southland Conference play Thursday at 7 p.m. against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the University Center.
The match will feature the annual Dig the Lions student promotion, featuring free t-shirts for the first 200 Southeastern students in attendance.
