HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana dropped its home opener to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in three sets, 25-17, 25-18, 26-24, Tuesday at the University Center.
The Lady Lions (1-9) showed significant energy and potential against the Southern Miss (9-4) defense in the third set, posting their best attack percentage (.091) of the match.
Savannah Alcazar, a sophomore middle blocker from League City, Texas, led the Lady Lions with seven kills and 10 digs.
Haley Baker, a junior setter from Elkton, Maryland, handed out 14 assists.
Sophomore outside hitter
Chloee Holden, who hails from Alvin, Texas, picked up all five of her digs in the electric third set.
Lexie Torres, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, added 7 digs to her team-leading totals.
NOTES
- The Lady Lions were without the services of sophomore right side Elyssa Purcell, who was a late scratch.
- Southeastern held Southern Miss to a .198 attack percentage, the third lowest of any Lady Lion opponent this season.

They are set to play a pair of matches Friday, taking on North Texas at 10 a.m. and Jackson State at 5 p.m., before facing off against host school Mississippi State at 11 a.m. Saturday.
