TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo rallied from a seven point deficit in the third set to sweep past Southeastern Louisiana, 25-14, 25-22, 29-27, Friday in the opener of the BGSU / UT Invitational at Savage Arena.
 
Southeastern (0-4) fought off a sluggish start to out-hit the Rockets (2-2) in the second set, .138 to .107, but Toledo pulled away late after the Lady Lions tied the set, 17-17.
 
In the third and final set, Toledo rallied from a 17-10 deficit to complete the sweep.
 
Savannah Alcazar, a sophomore from League City, Texas, led all players with 11 kills. Elyssa Purcell, a sophomore from Alvin, Texas, added nine more kills for the Lady Lions. Haley Baker, a junior setter from Elkton, Maryland, dished out a match-high 28 assists. Lexie Torres, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, picked up a team-leading 18 digs.
 
 
NOTES

• The Lady Lions turned in their best defensive effort of the season, holding Toledo to 33 kills, a .167 attack percentage and 48 points in the match.
• Alcazar becomes the first Southeastern player to record double-digit kills this season, picking up 11 against the Rockets.
• Toledo's nine service aces are the most given up by the Lady Lions this season.

Southeastern faces VCU (3-1) at 10 a.m. (Central) Saturday. The match will be played at Savage Arena in Toledo, Ohio. Later Saturday, the Lady Lions travel to face Bowling Green (1-2) at 6 p.m. (Central) at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio.
