THIBODAUX, La. – Southeastern Louisiana picked up its first Southland Conference win of the season Thursday, topping in-state rival Nicholls, 25-22, 25-12, 20-25, 29-27, at David R. Stopher Gymnasium.
The Lady Lions (3-24, 1-12 Southland) took the first two sets before Nicholls (4-22, 2-11 Southland) rallied to force a fourth set. Southeastern cruised to a 14-5 lead in the final set before the Colonels came storming back to tie the set, 22-22.
Elyssa Purcell (Alvin, Texas) led all players with 17 kills.
Savannah Alcazar (League City, Texas) added 14 more kills for the Lady Lions.
Michelle Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) handed out a career-high 28 assists and recorded 11 digs, earning her sixth double-double of the season.
Haley Baker (Elkton, Maryland) dished out an additional 20 assists.
Lexie Torres (San Antonio, Texas) picked up 21 digs, a career best.
Alexis Pratt (Houston, Texas) also recorded a career high, turning in 10 digs.
NOTES
- The win snapped a 14-match losing streak.
- Southeastern has won five of its last seven against Nicholls. It was the Lady Lions' first win in Thibodaux since the 2014 season.

Saturday the Lady Lions match up against McNeese (17-11, 8-5 Southland) in Lake Charles, Louisiana, at 11:30 a.m. in Memorial Gym prior to that evening's Southeastern football game.
