HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana dropped its seventh straight match, a Southland Conference tilt against Houston Baptist, 25-22, 25-11, 25-22, Thursday night at the University Center.
The Lady Lions (2-17, 0-5 Southland) kept things interesting in the first set, registering 14 team kills. Neither team led by more than two points, until the Huskies (13-5, 5-1 Southland) pulled away after scoring four of the final five points.
After dropping the second set in rough fashion, the Lady Lions rebounded nicely in the finale, putting together a .216 hitting percentage.
Sophomore
Jodi Edo (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) and redshirt sophomore
Elyssa Purcell (Alvin, Texas) each added seven kills in the match. Junior setter
Haley Baker (Elkton, Maryland) dished up 18 assists, and her younger counterpart
Michelle Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) added 12 more.
NOTES
- Houston Baptist put up a total of 13 blocks, marking the fifth time a Lion opponent has reached double digits this season.
- Lexie Torres (20) and Savannah Alcazar (18) both established a new career high in digs.

"We've had so many sets that we had the lead or were right in there, and then we don't finish," said head coach
Jim Smoot. "That's what [assistant coach Allison Chevalier] was talking about to them. We have to learn to finish the set."

The Lady Lions will take the weekend off before traveling to McDonald Gym in Beaumont, Texas, for a Southland Conference match against Lamar (2-11, 0-3 Southland) on October 10.
