HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana dropped a Southland Conference volleyball match to Northwestern State in three sets, 25-21, 25-14, 25-21, Saturday afternoon at the University Center.
The Lady Lions (2-22, 0-10 Southland) fell in the opening set, despite attempts to fight back from a pair of four-point deficits. Northwestern State (12-13, 7-3 Southland) used the momentum to record a .379 attack percentage in the second set, en route to a 2-0 advantage.
Freshman middle blocker
Tempestt Vaughn (Beaumont, Texas) led the team with six kills. Junior libero
Lexie Torres (San Antonio, Texas) added 15 digs, and she recorded her ninth service ace of the season.
Setters
Michelle Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) and
Haley Baker (Elkton, Maryland) each handed out 11 assists. Mirarchi also picked up eight digs in the match.
A trio of Lady Lions – freshman middle blocker
Sam Gomez (Mandeville, Louisiana), redshirt sophomore
Elyssa Purcell (Alvin, Texas), and sophomore hitter
Chloee Holden (Alvin, Texas) – all recorded five kills.
Southeastern has dropped its last 12 matches.
NOTES
- Junior defensive specialist Macey Stock (Baton Rouge, La.) picked up seven digs and a service ace.
- Southeastern only allowed two team blocks in the match, the lowest mark of any opponent this season.

Southeastern continues a four-match homestand Thursday at 7 p.m. against Lamar (3-17, 1-9 Southland). The Cardinals dropped a home match Saturday to McNeese, their fifth straight loss.
