HAMMOND, La. – Central Arkansas held off a pair of rallies by Southeastern Louisiana in Southland Conference volleyball action Thursday in the University Center, picking up a win over the Lady Lions, 25-14, 25-19, 25-21.
 
Southeastern (2-21, 0-9 Southland) rallied from a three-point deficit early in the second set, taking a 13-10 lead over the Sugar Bears (18-3, 7-2 Southland). Central Arkansas regained the lead, 17-16, and held on to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
 
The Lady Lions rallied in the final set from a five-point deficit to tie the match, 10-10, but could not overtake Central Arkansas.
 
NOTES

• Redshirt sophomore Elyssa Purcell (Alvin, Texas) led all players with 12 kills, the second-most she's recorded this season. Sophomore hitter Savannah Alcazar (League City, Texas) added 10 more kills for Southeastern.
• Freshman setter Michelle Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) dished out a team-high 19 assists. Junior setter Haley Baker (Elkton, Maryland) added another 15 for the Lady Lions.
• Junior libero Lexie Torres (San Antonio, Texas) led all players with 12 digs.

 
UP NEXT
Southeastern wraps up the weekend Saturday at 1 p.m. with a conference match against Northwestern State (11-13, 6-3 Southland) in the University Center.
