BEAUMONT, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana will look to bounce back from its first Southland Conference loss of the season when the Lions travel to Lamar Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. tip-off in the Montagne Center.
The game between the Lions (9-7, 2-1) and Cardinals (9-6, 1-1) is scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN3, which is accessible online at
WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the ESPN app and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Southeastern had an overall three-game winning streak snapped with an 81-74 loss at Houston Baptist on Thursday.
Junior forward
James Currington had his first career double-double with a career-high 11 rebounds and 12 points. Sophomore forward
Moses Greenwood finished with 22 points and eight rebounds after coming off the bench. Junior guard
Davon Hayes added 11 points. Southeastern shot 37.7 percent from the field and out-rebounded HBU 41-36.
Southeastern goes into Satuday's game averaging 73.8 points per game on 46.3 percent shooting - third best in the Southland - and is second in the conference in 3-point percentage at 37.4 percent. The Lions continue to lead the league in scoring defense (68.5 ppg) and are second in field goal percentage defense (42.4 percent) and scoring margin (plus-5.2). Southeastern also paces the Southland in rebounding margin at plus-4.0 in averaging 36.4 while allowing 32.4. The Lions are blocking 3.4 shots and grabbing 6.8 steals a game.
Sophomore guard
Marlain Veal leads the team with 14.3 points per game while ranking third in the conference in assists (67) and tied for sixth in steals (27). Hayes is averaging 13.0 points and 4.4 rebounds while recording 28 assists and 17 steals. Senior center
Dominic Nelson (5.0 ppg) is second in the league in blocks (39) and tied for second in rebounds (117) and is 25th in the country with 2.44 blocks per game.
Currington, who missed the first nine games with an injury, has started the past three games and is now averaging 9.1 points and 7.1 rebounds a contest. Junior guard
Jabbar Singleton (3.4 ppg) has dished out 48 assists, ninth most in the league Greenwood is averaging 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds, while ranking third in the league in field goal percentage (61.4).
The Lions will look to contain Lamar, the top-scoring team in the Southland with 79.9 points per game. The Cardinals are shooting 45.6 percent from the field, including 36.1 percent on 3-pointers. Lamar also leads the conference with a plus-5.0 turnover margin and a 1.2 assist/turnover ratio. The Cardinals are averaging 12.5 turnovers while forcing 17.5 and are third with 15.1 assists per game.
Defensively, Lamar is allowing 71.1 points, third-best in the conference, on 46.8 percent shooting. The Cardinals are second in defending the 3 (32.4 percent). Lamar is averaging 36.9 rebounds, fourth in the league, while allowing 35.6 and are second in steals per game (9.1).
Junior forward Colton Weisbrod leads the Southland in rebounding (9.2 rpg) and is 11th in scoring (14.4 ppg). Sophomore guard Nick Garth ranks second in 3-pointers made (3.0) while averaging 12.0 points. Sophomore forward Josh Nzeakor (8.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg) is the league's leading shooter (63.0 percent). Junior guard Joey Frenchwood (9.5 ppg) is second in assists (74 assists, 4.9 apg) and assist/turnover ratio (2.1). He has also grabbed 28 steals. Junior guard Torey Noel (6.2 ppg) is fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.9) and tied for ninth in assists (3.1). Junior guard Zjori Bosha (6.1 ppg) is third in steals with 30.
Lamar had a four-game winning streak stopped and lost its first home of the season, 66-62, in overtime to New Orleans on Thursday. Garth had 13 points, Weisbrod 12 and Nzeakor 10. Bosha had a game-high 11 rebounds.
Lamar leads the series 24-21. Southeastern took a 98-70 win at home in 2015-16 and has won 18 of the past 29 after the Cardinals captured 13 of the first 16 in the series which dates back to the 1958-59 season. Lamar's last victory came in Beaumont, 57-50, in 2014-15.
Southeastern closes out its three-game road trip at Abilene Christian Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
