Popcorn at The Pat, Cane's Challenge Highlight Midweek Baseball Action

Fans can watch Angels in the Outfield on videoboard following Tuesday's game

HAMMOND, La. – Baseball fans will get a little lagniappe this week at Southeastern Louisiana's games Tuesday against Southern and Wednesday against Alcorn State. Both games start at 6 p.m. at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

Tuesday's game against the Jaguars (8-13) features "Popcorn at the Pat", as fans and students are invited to enjoy a movie on the video board following the game courtesy Southeastern Athletic Marketing and Promotions.

Both games are Cane's Challenge contests. If the Lions (18-6) score four runs or more in either game, fans can take their game ticket or student coupon to their local Raising Cane's to receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.

The games can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online and through the TuneIn Radio app (search for KSLU). Fans can also keep up with the game through live statistics or by following SLUathletics on Twitter. Streaming video is available on LionVision, Southeastern's subscription-based video stream. Southeastern has won a school-record 12 straight games, sweeping a series from Southland Conference-foe Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this past weekend.

The Lions have three everyday players hitting .300 or better, including Jameson Fisher (.481), Webb Bobo (.316) and Brennan Breaud (.303). The Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, Fisher also leads the squad with eight home runs and 30 RBIs. Southeastern is hitting .283 as a team with 40 doubles, 10 triples, 20 home runs and 45 stolen bases.

Southeastern's pitching staff, which enters the week ranked second in the nation in earned run average, has compiled a 2.11 ERA, fanning 230 batters through 216.1 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .213 off Lion pitching.

Freshman right-hander Carlo Graffeo (2-0, 3.86) draws the first starting assignment of his career for the Lions in the Southern game. The Jaguars will counter with junior right-hander Harold Myles (0-4, 7.12).

Southern's pitching staff has compiled a 6.19 ERA, fanning 138 batters in 164.1 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .307 off Jaguar pitching.

Troy Lewis (.375) and Jose DeLa Torre (.359) lead Southern at the plate. DeLa Torre also leads the squad with two homers and 17 RBIs. Robinson Mateo has swiped a team-high 12 bases in 14 attempts. The Jaguars are hitting .261 as a team with 29 doubles, five triples, five home runs and 37 stolen bases.

Walter Rios (.356) and Charles Moses (.333) pace the Alcorn State offense. Rios also leads the Braves with three homers and 18 RBIs. Alcorn State (4-17) is hitting .262 as a team with 32 doubles, eight triples, nine home runs and 18 stolen bases.

The Braves' pitching staff has compiled a 9.74 ERA, fanning 124 batters in 170 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .345 off Alcorn State pitching.

General admission tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children (ages 3-12) for all individual Lion home games. Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card. Students and campus organizations can earn points toward their new Lion Up Loyalty account at any home game just by checking in on the mobile app while in attendance.

Ticket office hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Fridays. The box office at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens one hour prior to the scheduled first pitch.

Southeastern returns to Southland Conference play this coming weekend against Nicholls. The Lions will host a pair of games during the series, Friday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. The middle game of the series will be played Saturday at 6 p.m. in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
