HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana opens a 3-game homestand Tuesday, hosting the University of New Orleans in a key Southland Conference contest at 7 p.m. in the University Center. Lion hoops is encouraging all fans in attendance to wear pink for breast cancer awareness.
The Athletic Marketing and Student Promotions Office will have free food for the first 300 students through the doors against UNO (9-15, 5-8 Southland) and it is also a Cane's Challenge contest for the Lions (7-19, 5-8 Southland). UNO and the Lions are currently tied for the No. 5 seed in the Southland Conference Tournament, scheduled for March 9-13 in Katy, Texas. The teams will face each other once again, March 3, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Last time out five Lions scored in double figures and Southeastern Louisiana hit 54.2 percent of its field goal attempts, but Abilene Christian countered with 29-of-34 shooting from the free throw line on the way to defeating the Lions, 91-80, this past Sunday afternoon at Moody Coliseum in Abilene, Texas.

Dimi Cook tied for game-high honors with 16 points each for the Lions.
Jackson, a native of Hammond, leads Southeastern in scoring this season with an average of 12.8 points per game and is third in the Southland Conference with 4.9 assists per game.
Joshua Filmore (8.7 ppg), a junior from Orlando, Florida, and
Jordan Capps (8.7 ppg, 5.5 rebounds per game) round out the Lions' top scorers.
Southeastern is shooting 45.2 percent (649-of-1,435) from the floor this season, ranking fourth in the Southland. The Lions have hit 35.0 percent (177-of-505) from 3-point range, are 359-of-570 (63.0 percent) from the free throw line and have been out-rebounded by opponents, on average, 35.3-to-33.9 per game.
UNO snapped a 3-game losing streak this past Saturday with a 102-99 conference win at Northwestern State.
Christavious Gill (13.5 ppg, 2.8 rpg), Erik Thomas (11.5 ppg, 7.1 rpg), Nate Frye (9.4 ppg, 3.0 rpg) and Kevin Hill (9.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg) are the Privateers' top players.
This season UNO is shooting 41.4 percent (603-of-1,445) from the floor, including 34.0 percent (123-of-362) from 3-point range. The Privateers have converted 448-of-649 (69.0 percent) from the free throw line and have out-rebounded opponents, on average, 38.6-to-38.0 per game.
Southeastern rounds out the home portion of its 2015-16 schedule with conference games Saturday at 4 p.m. against Central Arkansas and Monday at 7 p.m. against in-state rival Northwestern State.
