HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana dropped a Southland Conference match at Sam Houston State in four sets Thursday, 25-15, 19-25, 25-13, 25-18.
Elyssa Purcell, a redshirt freshman from Alvin, Texas, paced Southeastern (6-21, 5-9 Southland) with her national-leading eighth triple-double of the season. Sam Houston improved to 14-12 (8-5 Southland) with the win.
Chloee Holden, a freshman who also hails from Alvin, joined Purcell with 11 kills.
Haley Baker, a sophomore from Elkton, Maryland, handed out a team-high 20 assists while Purcell dished out an additional 16 for the Lady Lions.
Purcell and
Madi Odom, a senior from Kingwood, Texas, each recorded 12 digs.
Macey Stock, a sophomore from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, added 10 digs for Southeastern.
Brooke White (17) and Jordyn Vaughn (15) contributed double-digit kill totals for the Bearkats while Michelle Griffith distributed 43 assists.
Claire Kilpatrick led all players with 17 digs. Griffith added 11 digs for a double-double.
With the Southland volleyball tournament just over one week away, Southeastern finds itself one-half game behind McNeese (9-19, 5-8 Southland) for the final spot. The Lady Lions swept the season series from the Cowgirls this season.
Southeastern wraps up another busy week with a 12 p.m. road match Saturday at Stephen F. Austin (17-9, 10-3 Southland).

Abby McIntyre (2.50 kills per set), Justice Walker (2.15 k/s) and Ann Hollas (8.21 assists per set) lead the Ladyjack offensive attack.
Walker (1.27 blocks per set) and Danae Daron (1.08 b/s) are SFA's top blocking threats.
Lexus Cain (5.35) and Haley Coleman (3.05) are among five players averaging at least a pair of digs per set for the Ladyjacks.
Southeastern plays its final match of the regular season Nov. 12 at New Orleans (4-23, 1-13 Southland).
