HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana dropped a 5-set decision Saturday to New Orleans in Southland Conference volleyball action, 25-18, 25-19, 23-25, 26-28, 15-13, at the University Center.
The Lady Lions (2-15, 1-3 Southland) rebounded after dropping the first two sets to take both the third and fourth, pushing UNO (4-14, 1-4 Southland) to the brink.
Elyssa Purcell, a redshirt freshman from Alvin, Texas, recorded her conference-leading fifth triple-double of the season, picking up a team-high 15 kills to go along with 19 assists and 16 digs.
Chloe Holden, a freshman from Alvin, recorded 12 kills and
Landry Bullock, a senior from Spring, Texas, surpassed 800 kills in her career, picking up 10 in the match for Southeastern.
Haley Baker, a sophomore from Elkton, Maryland, dished out a team-high 28 assists.
Rachael Bunn, a senior from San Juan Capistrano, California, had a hand in five of the Lady Lions' seven team blocks, pushing her to fifth in both career block assists (252) and total blocks (288). Purcell participated in four blocks.
Madi Odom, a senior from Kingwood, Texas, led Southeastern with 26 digs.
Monica Ramon, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, contributed 18 and
Parrie Hartley, a senior from Columbus, Texas, chipped in 10 digs.
Blessing Dunn led all players with 18 kills and Kaitlyn Grice added 12 for UNO. Sarah Thomas dished out a match-high 47 assists.
Grice contributed on seven of the Privateers' 12 team blocks.
UNO libero Samantha Uline led all players with 30 digs, while Dunn (18) and Andrea Nava (14) also picked up double-figure dig totals.
Southeastern returns to the court Tuesday at the University Center for the annual Dig Pink match against in-state rival Nicholls (5-16, 0-5 Southland).
The Lady Lion volleyball team will be showing its support for breast cancer awareness. Fans and students are encouraged to wear pink to the arena, and at the same time work together to build breast cancer awareness within local and surrounding areas. The team will be selling Pink Links for $1 to raise money.
