HAMMOND, La. – Haley Baker and
Madi Odom turned in double-double performances Tuesday, helping lead Southeastern Louisiana to a 4-set victory over rival Nicholls in Southland Conference action, 25-21, 19-25, 25-22, 25-18, in the annual Dig Pink match at the University Center.
Southeastern (3-15, 2-3 Southland) defeated Nicholls (5-17, 0-6 Southland) for the fourth time in the last five meetings.
Chloee Holden (.379 attack percentage), a freshman from Alvin, Texas, led all players with 14 kills. Odom, a senior from Kingwood, Texas, contributed 11 to go with her 15 digs, while
Rachael Bunn (.400 attack percentage), a senior from San Juan Capistrano, California, added 10 kills to the Lady Lion offensive effort.
Baker, a sophomore from Elkton, Maryland, dished out a match-high 28 assists to go with her career-high 14 digs.
Elyssa Purcell, a redshirt freshman from Alvin, handed out another 20 assists.
Bunn, fifth on Southeastern's career blocks list, contributed a pair of solo blocks.
Monica Ramon, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, led all players with 26 digs, while
Parrie Hartley, a senior from Columbus, Texas, chipped in 14 more for the Lady Lions.
Kali Schwartz and Emily Weimer each recorded nine kills to lead Nicholls on offense, while Jade Piper (16 assists) and Lucija Barac (10 assists) split the setting duties.
Sydney Lerille had a hand in six of Nicholls eight team blocks.
Four Lady Colonels contributed double-digit dig totals, including Alexa Perry (17), Kaci Eaton (14), Stephanie Tobison (14) and Schwartz (11).
Southeastern now faces back-to-back road matches, 6 p.m. Thursday at Central Arkansas (8-11, 2-5 Southland) and 1 p.m. Saturday at Northwestern State (10-12, 5-2 Southland). The Lady Lions will return to the University Center, Oct. 18, for Smoot Fever Night against McNeese.
