HAMMOND, La. – Stephen F. Austin scored a pair of goals in each half to take a 4-0 Southland Conference win over Southeastern Louisiana Sunday afternoon in Strawberry Stadium.
Junior Hanna Barker converted a turnover into a goal midway through the first half for SFA (9-4-0, 6-2-0). Senior Amanda Doyle added a goal eight minutes later, while senior Hailey Hunt and sophomore Crystal Calvit tacked on goals in the second half. Barker and freshmen Mari Gillespie and Michaela Mencacci recorded assists. Senior Lillie Ehlert made eight saves for the Ladyjacks, who snapped a two-match conference losing streak.
Senior
Hope Sabadash pulled in seven saves for Southeastern (6-8-2, 3-4-1). Sophomore
Payton Colson took three shots, all on goal, while freshman
Ylva Svendsen put both her shots on the net.
"We had a few mental errors that led to them to having scoring opportunities," Southeastern interim head coach
Matt Muia said.
Southeastern will embark on its final road trip of the season next weekend, visiting Central Arkansas Friday at 7 p.m. and Northwestern State Sunday at 1 p.m. The Lady Lions are tied with Houston Baptist for the fourth spot in the conference tournament race.
"It's the last road trip of the season and we have two big conference games," Muia said. "We have to try to get points and stay in the top six so we have a chance to go to the tournament."
Stephen F. Austin went on the offensive early as Sabadash made a diving save on sophomore Breanna Moore's shot from the right side of the box in the fourth minute. Sabadash also stopped shots by Hunt and Gillespie over the next five minutes.

Sabadash saved a shot by senior Kelly Ann Craig in the 20
th minute. But Barker stole a pass back to the keeper, then headed the ball into an open net for her eighth goal of the season to give the Ladyjacks a 1-0 lead.
Ehlert denied an attempt by Colson in the 27
th minute. Doyle then lined in a shot from in the box off a pass from Barker for her fifth goal of the season and Barker's seventh assist, making it 2-0 in the 28
th minute.
Ehlert stopped shots by Colson and Svendsen in the 35
th minute while Sabadash collected a pair of saves against senior Meghan Corder and freshman Katie Jennings in the final 10 minutes of the half.
Sophomore
Sofia Olsson missed high on a pair of shots in the first 10 minutes of the second half, while Moore sent a shot wide from the right wing in the 60
th minute. But Hunt then took a pass from Gillespie and angled it in from the right side, extending the SFA lead to 3-0 in the 62
nd minute. It was Hunt's third goal and Gillespie's first assist of the season.
Ehlert picked up saves against Svendsen and junior
Lauren Babcock before Peacock shot wide in the 74
th minute. Calvit then added the Ladyjacks' fourth goal following a run down the right side off a pass from Mencacci. The goal was Calvit's second while Mencacci collected her first assist.
