HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team's "Jam the Jungle" promotion and football's Signing Day Bash during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The men's basketball team (3-17, 1-6 Southland) will be looking for its second straight home victory on Monday when it welcomes McNeese State to town for a 7 p.m. Southland Conference contest in the University Center. In conjunction with the "Jam the Jungle" promotion, SLU Athletics Student Marketing and Promotions will provide the first 300 students with a spirit item and special promotions will be available throughout the game.
Monday will also be a Cane's Challenge night. If the Lions score 60 points or more, fans can take their tickets or student coupons to either Hammond Raising Cane's and receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
The newest members of the Southeastern football program will be announced on National Signing Day Wednesday. The Lion Athletics Association (LAA) will host the annual Football Signing Day Bash that evening at the Event Center in Hammond.
Doors at the Event Center, located at 1904 Nashville Avenue, will open at 5:30 p.m. for the three-hour event. Tickets are $25 for the general public, while LAA Touchdown Club members and one guest can get in for $10 each. Southeastern students will receive entry for $5 with valid ID, while children ages 12 and under will receive free admission.
Refreshments will be provided and a cash bar will be available. The Spirit of the Southland Band, as well as the Lionnettes and SLU cheerleaders will also be in attendance.
From 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., the Voice of the Lions Mark Willoughby, Inside Southeastern Football with
Ron Roberts host Allen Waddell and Stuart Lewis will host a live radio show to be broadcast on WHMD-FM (Kajun 107.1). At 7:30 p.m., Roberts and his staff will unveil the 2016 football signing class.

The women's basketball team (3-16, 2-6 Southland) will close out its four-game road trip on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. game at Central Arkansas. On Saturday, SLU will welcome Abilene Christian for a 1 p.m. contest. Junior forward Dani Fielder is Saturday's Spotlight Player of the Game and the first 100 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Houston, Texas native courtesy of PRIDE.
Saturday's game versus ACU will be the start of a doubleheader that closes with a 4 p.m. men's game between ACU and SLU. In conjunction with Saturday's doubleheader, Southeastern will hold Military Appreciation Day and all military personnel will receive free admission with valid military ID.
The SLU tennis team (2-0) will continue its four-match home stand to open the spring. The Lions will welcome Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday for a 12 p.m. match at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Southeastern track and field teams will continue preparation for the Southland Conference Championships later this month. The Lions and Lady Lions will be at the site of the league championship meet on Sunday when they compete in the Jaguar Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.
