HAMMOND – The No. 19/22 Southeastern Louisiana football team will be back home on Thursday, hosting Lamar in a 6 p.m. Southland Conference contest at Strawberry Stadium.
The game between the Lions (2-1, 1-0 Southland) and Cardinals (2-1, 1-0 Southland) will be televised by the American Sports Network with Cox Sports Television serving as the Hammond-area ASN affiliate. It can also be heard on KSLU-FM (90.9) and LionSports.net, as well as affiliates and Northshore Broadcasting stations Kajun 107.1 FM (WHMD) and The Highway 104.7 FM (WJSH). Musician Todd O'Neill will provide entertainment from 1-4 p.m. in Friendship Circle.
Southeastern will also offer ticket discounts for young fans. T the purchase of one full-price adult ticket will entitle fans to one youth ticket (ages 12 and under). This offer includes all Strawberry Stadium seating with the exception of sections D, E, F and G. In addition, high school and junior high school students will receive a $10 ticket for the Southland Conference contest versus the Cardinals by presenting their school ID.
Southeastern is also partnering with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center to dedicate Thursday's game to breast cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to Thursday's contest.
Both the Lions and the Cardinals are coming off an off-week. On Sept. 19, SLU cut a three-touchdown halftime deficit to 21-14 early in the fourth quarter before ultimately losing, 35-14, at Football Bowl Subdivision member Ohio. Conversely, Lamar is coming off a huge 49-46 win at then-No. 3 Sam Houston State, as the Cardinals held off a late Bearkat rally.
"Lamar is a very talented team and we're expecting a great game on Thursday," Southeastern head coach
Ron Roberts said. "We feel like the bye week came at a good time for us and we'll have a couple of guys back that have missed some time. We have continue to get better each week and we've got a difficult test ahead of us on Thursday."
Lamar comes to Hammond with a high-powered offense averaging 472.0 yards and 48.7 points per game. The Cardinals have done it both on the ground and in the air. Junior running back Kade Harrington has rushed for 334 yards and five touchdowns, while junior quarterback Carson Earp has thrown for 384 yards and six scores with senior wide receiver Reggie Begelton (19 catches, 157 yards, 3 TD) serving as his favorite target.
The Lion defense will be tested when the Cardinals come to town, but SLU has forced 13 turnovers and has 13 sacks through the first two games. Senior defensive back

The SLU offense will be buoyed by the return of junior quarterback

Xavier Roberson – both of whom missed the loss at Ohio. Roberson and senior
Kody Sutton lead the team with two rushing touchdowns, while senior wide receivers
Jeff Smiley and
Dylan Bossier each have caught touchdown passes.
Southeastern will be facing a Lamar defense that has allowed 38.3 points and 475.7 yards per game this season. Junior safety Tommie Barrett leads LU with 15 tackles, while senior linebackers Ronnie Jones and Logan Moss have two sacks apiece.
The Lions lead the all-time series with Lamar, 7-3, and has won the last three meetings between the two schools. Last season in Beaumont, SLU broke open a close game late, riding a single-game school record 484 rushing yards to a 61-34 victory.
Following Thursday's contest, Southeastern will travel to No. 15/23 McNeese State for a 6 p.m. game on Saturday, Oct. 10 in Lake Charles. The contest will be televised live on Cox Sports Television.
