LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team held off a late charge Saturday by Portland State for a four-set victory at the Rebel Challenge, 25-20, 16-25, 25-20, 26-24.

Southeastern (3-6) rebounded from a setback in the second set to take the final two for the win over the Vikings (3-6).

The Lady Lions jumped out to a commanding eight-point advantage in the opening set, 17-9, on a kill from Rachael Bunn. Southeastern hit a season-best .423 in the set, recording 15 kills in just 26 attempts.

Portland State answered back in the second set, finishing off on a 12-3 run to break away away in a tied contest.

Rebounding in the third set, Parrie Hartley served up five-straight points to open up the action. The Vikings rallied for a 12-11 lead, but Southeastern twice countered to go back up in the match. Hartley finished off the set with a kill.

Landry Bullock carried the load for the Lady Lions in the final set, recording nine of her team-high 17 kills in helping seal the win.

Haley Baker (22) and Mikayla Shippy (19) split the setting duties for Southeastern. Brooke Balser posted a career-high 24 digs and Hartley chipped in 12 more. Bunn had a hand in three of the Lady Lions' five team blocks, including a pair of solo blocks.

Eva Linden led all players with 19 kills and Jenna Mullen added an additional 16 for Portland State. Three Vikings recorded double-digit assists, including Erin Clark (21) and Kylie Copple (15) . Tasha Bojanic turned in a double-double effort, joining Linden, with 10 assists and a team-high 23 digs. Linden contributed 13 digs for her double-double.

Linden and Lady Lion Tiffany Thomas were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

Southeastern returns to action Tuesday at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
