LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in day one action at the Rebel Challenge, falling to host UNLV and former Southland Conference foe Oral Roberts.
UNLV took the first match, 25-16, 25-12, 25-19, while the Golden Eagles needed four sets to top Southeastern, 25-21, 18-25, 25-10, 25-14.
Stingy defenses stymied the Southeastern (2-6) offense with both UNLV (4-3) and Oral Roberts (5-3) posting double-digit blocks.
Southeastern wraps up its participation in the Rebel Classic with a 1:30 p.m. (Central) match against Portland State. Live stats are available for the match with links on both the front page and volleyball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
Match One – UNLV 3, Southeastern 0The Rebels snapped a three-match losing streak using a highly efficient offense to sweep three sets from Southeastern. UNLV posted just five attack errors in the match, recording a .379 attack percentage.
Tiffany Thomas led all players with 13 kills and
Sarah Friedman added an additional nine.
Mikayla Shippy handed out 21 assists.
Brooke Balser led the Lady Lions with 12 digs.
Alyssa Wing's 10 kills led UNLV. Alexis Patterson dished out 31 assists. Carly Riehl recorded 13 digs to lead all players and Bree Hammel had a hand in half of the Rebels' 12 team blocks.

Match Two – Oral Roberts 3, Southeastern 1Dropping the first set, Southeastern rallied back to take the next one from Oral Roberts. The Lady Lions jumped out to a 7-1 advantage, eventually building a set-high eight point lead.
Holding the Golden Eagles to a .000 attack percentage, Southeastern took the second set to split the match. Oral Roberts rallied to take the final two sets and the match.
Thomas again led Southeastern in kills, recording nine.
Rachael Bunn, who tallied a .778 attack percentage, and
Landry Bullock each added seven kills.
Mikayla Shippy handed out 16 assists and also recorded five kills.
Monica Ramon led the Lady Lions with 11 digs.
Shelby Cox posted 10 kills and had a hand in seven of the Golden Eagles 13 team blocks. Lucija Bojanjac dished out 37 assists and recorded 11 digs. Tori Roe added an additional 10 digs for Oral Roberts.
