SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Southeastern Louisiana baseball team steps out of Southland Conference play this weekend, traveling west to take on the University of Utah in a three-game series.
Games are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. All times are Central.
Southeastern (25-9) faces Utah (10-19), out of the Pac-12 Conference, for the first time in school history. The Utes play their games at Smith's Ballpark, also home to the Anaheim Angels' Triple-A team.

Southeastern, which has won three in-a-row, is west of Texas for the first time since participating in the NCAA West Regional in Tucson, Arizona, in 1992.

Jacob Williams (.310) lead Southeastern at the plate. Carr's batting average is the third-highest in the Southland. Midyett's six home runs and .559 slugging percentage lead the conference. Seward and Midyett have scored a conference-leading 29 runs and their batting averages are tied for eighth.
Ryan Byers owns a team-best 11 stolen bases.
The Lions are hitting a Southland-best .304 as a team and have been successful on 48-of-66 stolen base attempts, also tops in the conference. The pitching staff has compiled a 3.71 ERA, fanning a Southland-leading 291 batters in 298.1 innings pitched.
Tate Scioneaux (5-2, 4.23), a junior right-hander from Reserve, Louisiana, draws the series opening nod for the Lions. He matches up with fellow righty Nolan Stouder (0-2, 4.71) for the Utes.
The Lions will send junior right-hander
Jake Johnson (6-0, 2.44) to the mound on Saturday against Utah right-hander Dalton Carroll (3-4, 4.12).
Southpaw
Kyle Cedotal (4-2, 1.84), a junior from Denham Springs, Louisiana, draws the starting nod for Southeastern in Sunday's series finale against Ute right-hander Jayson Rose (2-3, 4.07).
Wyler Smith (.364), Kody Davis (.314) and Dallas Carroll (.306) lead Utah at the plate. A trio of players, including Cody Scaggari, AJ Young and Max Schuman, have hit a team-high three home runs. Carroll and Scaggari are tied for the team lead with 19 RBIs. Carroll's 10 stolen bases lead the team.
The Utes are hitting .257 as a team and have been successful on 45-of-76 stolen base attempts. The pitching staff has compiled a 5.44 ERA, fanning 198 batters in 249.2 innings of work.
Utah dropped 2-of-3 games this past weekend to Arizona State in Pac-12 play.
Following the series, Southeastern travels to Louisiana-Lafayette Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game that will be broadcast on ESPN3.
