Lions Host South Alabama For Military Appreciation Night

All military members admitted free

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana baseball squad wraps up a four-game homestand at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field Tuesday at 6 p.m., hosting South Alabama for Military Appreciation Night.

All active or former military members, with official identification, will receive one free admission to Tuesday's contest against the Jaguars (22-11).

The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online and through either the KSLU or TuneIn Radio smartphone apps. Fans can also keep up with the action through live statistics or by following @SLUathletics on Twitter. Streaming video is available on LionVision, Southeastern's subscription-based video stream. Southeastern (24-9) has won back-to-back games and is coming off a series victory over Northwestern State in Southland Conference play, staying atop the conference standings. The Lions defeated South Alabama, 4-1, back on March 11 in Mobile, Alabama.

Webb Bobo (.353), Kevin Carr (.342), Jacob Seward (.336), Daniel Midyett (.336), Kennon Menard (.329), Brett Hoffman (.319) and Jacob Williams (.310) lead Southeastern at the plate. Carr's batting average is the sixth-highest in the Southland. Midyett's six home runs and .566 slugging percentage lead the conference. His batting average is 10th. Seward has scored a conference-leading 28 runs. Ryan Byers owns a team-best 11 stolen bases.

The Lions are hitting a Southland-best .299 as a team and have been successful on 47-of-65 stolen base attempts, also tops in the conference. The pitching staff has compiled a 3.79 ERA, fanning a Southland-leading 286 batters in 289.1 innings pitched.

Pat Cashman (2-3, 4.91), a junior right-hander from Plainfield, Illinois, draws the starting nod for the Lions. He matches up with fellow righty Ryne Long (4-1, 2.09) for the Jaguars.

Cole Billingsley (.328), Matt Bolger (.315) and Daniel Martinez (.305) lead South Alabama at the plate.

Martinez owns a team-best two home runs and Adam Ballew has driven in a team-high 26 runners. Billingsley leads the team with 15 stolen bases.

The Jaguars are hitting .290 as a team and have been successful on 49-of-64 stolen base attempts. The pitching staff has compiled a 3.27 ERA, fanning 249 batters in 300.1 innings of work.

South Alabama took 2-of-3 from Arkansas State this past weekend in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

General admission tickets to Tuesday's game are $8 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 3-12). Children younger than three are admitted free with a paying adult. Southeastern students are also admitted free with their university ID cards.

Southeastern returns to action Friday at 7 p.m. (Central) against the University of Utah in the opener of a three-game series in Salt Lake City, Utah.
