Lions Wrap Up Road Trip At UL Lafayette

Game to be broadcast on ESPN3

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana baseball squad faces the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for the first of two times this season Tuesday at 6 p.m. at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Southeastern (26-11) wraps up a four-game road trip while UL Lafayette (21-13) is finishing off a four-game homestand. Televised by KLAF-TV, the broadcast will also be available on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online and through either the KSLU or TuneIn Radio smartphone apps. Fans can also keep up with the action through live statistics or by following @SLUathletics on Twitter. Southeastern dropped 2-of-3 games this past weekend at Utah.

Kevin Carr (.369), Brett Hoffman (.336), Daniel Midyett (.336) and Jacob Seward (.336) lead Southeastern at the plate. Carr's batting average also leads the Southland Conference. Midyett's six home runs, 32 RBIs and .557 slugging percentage lead the conference as well. Seward has scored a conference-leading 32 runs. Seward and Ryan Byers own a team-best 11 stolen bases.

The Lions are hitting .300 as a team and have been successful on 56-of-77 stolen base attempts, also tops in the conference. The pitching staff has compiled a 3.86 ERA, fanning a Southland-leading 309 batters in 324 innings pitched.

Pat Cashman (3-3, 4.18), a junior right-hander, draws the starting nod for the Lions. He matches up with fellow righty Eric Carter (1-1, 2.89) for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Blake Trahan (.366), Stefan Trosclair (.350), Tyler Girouard (.342) and Nick Thurman (.311) lead UL Lafayette at the plate. Trosclair owns a team-high six home runs. Thurman has driven in a team-best 26 runs and Trahan leads the squad with 12 stolen bases.

The Ragin' Cajuns are hitting .281 as a team and have been successful on 48-of-70 stolen base attempts. The pitching staff has compiled a 3.45 ERA, fanning 259 batters in 312.2 innings pitched.

UL Lafayette has won its last six games.

Southeastern returns to conference play at 6 p.m. Friday against McNeese State in the opener of a three-game series at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
