HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana baseball team returns to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field Tuesday at 6 p.m., hosting Louisiana-Monroe for Local Heroes Night.
All first responders, in uniform or with official identification, will receive free admission to Tuesday's contest against the Warhawks. Southeastern (19-7), winners of four in-a-row, hosts ULM (12-9) for the first time since May 19-21, 2005.
The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online and through either the KSLU or TuneIn Radio smartphone apps. Southeastern is coming off a series sweep of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Southland Conference play.
Kevin Carr (.376), the reigning Southland Conference Hitter of the Week,
Kennon Menard (.375),
Brett Hoffman (.355),
Daniel Midyett (.352) and
Chris Eades (.321) lead Southeastern at the plate. Carr's batting average is the second-highest in the Southland. Midyett's five home runs and 25 runs scored lead the conference.
Ryan Byers owns a team-best 21 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.
The Lions are hitting a Southland-best .307 as a team and have been successful on 38-of-52 stolen base attempts, also tops in the conference. Southeastern is seventh nationally in hits (275), walks (129) and on-base percentage (.412), and ninth in runs scored (186). The pitching staff has compiled a 4.04 ERA, fanning 220 batters in 227.1 innings pitched.
Pat Cashman (2-3, 4.12), a junior right-hander from Plainfield, Illinois, draws the starting nod for the Lions. He matches up with fellow righty Brayden Bouchey (2-1, 1.59) for the Warhawks.
Kodie Tidwell (.411), Nathan Pugh (.342) and Keelin Rasch (.325) lead ULM at the plate. Tidwell has smacked a team-high 10 doubles while Rasch's 10 home runs and 19 RBIs lead the squad. Pugh has swiped a team-best 10 bases.
The Warhawks are hitting .264 as a team and have been successful on 31-of-46 stolen base attempts. The pitching staff has compiled a 2.79 ERA, fanning 153 batters in 184 innings pitched.
ULM dropped 2-of-3 in a Sun Belt Conference series at Appalachian State this past weekend.
General admission tickets to Tuesday's game are $8 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 3-12). Children younger than three are admitted free with a paying adult. Southeastern students are also admitted free with their university ID card.
