NEW ORLEANS, La. – Tulane scored seven runs in its first at bat Tuesday, defeating Southeastern Louisiana, 15-2, at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Southeastern (15-7) scored a pair of unearned runs in the second and third innings off Tulane (16-5) starting pitcher Patrick Duester (3-1).
After batting around in the first, the Green Wave added multiple runs to its total in the second, third and sixth.
Duester earned the win, allowing seven hits, as well as a pair of walks and hit batters in 5.2 innings of work.
Pat Cashman (2-3), the first of seven Lion pitchers, suffered the loss after allowing eight runs (five earned) in 1.1 innings pitched.
Senior third baseman
Brett Hoffman led the Lions at the plate, going 2-for-3 with and RBI and a runs scored.
Southeastern hosts Jackson State (12-7) in 6 p.m. hump day game for Campus Organization Night at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

The Tigers own a potent offense, averaging a nation-leading 9.1 runs per game. Their on-base percentage (.426) is the second-highest in the nation, and they are ranked seventh in walks (108) and eighth in HBPs (34). Jackson State's 40 stolen bases as a team are the sixth-most in the country.
Southeastern will send senior right-hander
Kyle Keller (1-0, 5.59) to the bump against the Tigers. The Lions defeated Jackson State, 19-10, in Jackson, Mississippi, on Feb. 17.
