HAMMOND, La. – Jacob Williams and
Daniel Midyett ripped back-to-back solo home runs in the fifth inning Wednesday, and catcher
Chris Eades knocked a two-run homer later in the inning, as Southeastern Louisiana powered past Jackson State, 11-5, at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
Southeastern (16-7) scored early and often against Jackson State (12-8).
After the Tigers picked up a two-out run in the first inning, Southeastern answered with a pair to take the lead.
Jacob Seward was hit by a pitch to open the first. He advanced to third base on Midyett's one-out single up the middle.
Kevin Carr singled in Seward and
Brett Hoffman singled in Midyett.
The Lions added three runs in the third, and two more in the fourth, before exploding for three long balls in the fifth off reliever Rene Colon.
Midyett's homer was his fifth of the season. It was the first of the year, and as a Lion, for both Eades and Williams.
Jackson State scored a pair of runs in sixth and ninth innings off the Lion bullpen. Two of the four runs were unearned.
Midyett, Hoffman and
Kennon Menard each picked up three hits in the game.
Webb Bobo and Carr produced two hits apiece. Every member of the Southeastern starting lineup reached safely in the game. Eades and Hoffman both drove in a pair of runs.

Kyle Keller (2-0) picked up the win, allowing one runs in five innings pitched. He scattered three hits, walking one and striking out six.

Mason Klotz each worked one inning in relief.
Southeastern returns to action Friday at 6 p.m. at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the opener of a three-game Southland Conference series.
