THIBODAUX, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball squad travels to face in-state foes Nicholls State, Saturday, and McNeese State, Monday, for a pair of Southland Conference games.
Southeastern (7-16, 4-6 Southland) and the Colonels (7-14, 4-7 Southland) tip at 3:30 p.m. Saturday as the second half of a doubleheader featuring the Lady Lion and Nicholls squads. The Lions and McNeese State (9-13, 3-8 Southland) face off at 7 p.m. Monday.

Five Lions scored in double digits this past Tuesday and Southeastern knocked off Central Arkansas, 83-58, in a Southland Conference contest. It was the second-consecutive win for Southeastern.
Freshman
Justin Lobell scored all of his career-high 11 points in the first half on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting, including making all three 3-pointers he attempted. Eight different Lions scored in the first half.
DeVonte Upson led all scorers with 17 points and also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
Onochie Ochie scored 12 points.
Jimmie Duplessis and
Cedric Jenkins scored 10 points apiece.
Zay Jackson added eight points, seven rebounds and tied a career-best with nine assists.
Zay Jackson (15.3 points per game), Upson (10.5 ppg) and Ochie (8.7 ppg) lead Southeastern on offense. Upson is averaging a team-best 7.7 rebounds per contest, fourth most in the Southland.
The Lions are shooting 44.8 percent from the floor (574-of-1,282), 30.9 percent from three-point range (141-of-456) and 66.7 percent on free throws (276-of-414). Southeastern is averaging 68 points and 33.7 rebounds per game.
Nicholls had a two-game winning streak snapped this past Tuesday in San Antonio, Texas, dropping a 73-64 decision at Incarnate Word.
T.J. Carpenter (10.3 ppg) and Amin Torres (10.2 ppg) are the Colonels top scoring threats. Sam McBeath (6.2 rpg) leads the squad on the boards. Nicholls is shooting 43.2 percent from the floor (482-of-1,117), 26.4 percent from three-point range (92-of-438) and 60.5 percent on free throws (250-of-413). The Colonels average 62.2 points and 33.9 rebounds per game.
McNeese has dropped back-to-back contests since defeating the Lions, 73-60, in Hammond, Louisiana, back on Feb. 2. Desharick Guidry (17.4 ppg, 11.5 rpg) leads the conference in rebounding and is fourth in scoring.
The Cowboys are shooting 42 percent from the floor (546-of-1,301), 32 percent from three-point range (141-of-440) and 65.5 percent on free throws (271-of-414). McNeese is averaging 68.4 points and 34.4 rebounds per game.
Following the trip, Southeastern returns home to host Abilene Christian on Feb. 21 as part of a doubleheader that will be broadcast live on ESPN3. Fans can receive free admission to the game by purchasing a ticket to the Southeastern-Tulane baseball game slated for Wednesday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field and then showing that ticket stub at Gate 3 of the University Center on game day.
