Lions Wrap Up Pre-Christmas Slate At Georgia Tech

Two tuneups remain before Southland play

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball squad wraps up its pre-Christmas slate of games Monday at Georgia Tech. Tipoff for the non-conference contest is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central at McCamish Pavilion.

Monday's contest will be televised by ESPN3 and is available for streaming at either www.WatchESPN.com or the WatchESPN mobile app. The Southeastern Sports Radio Network broadcast, with Lance Pittman on the call, can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online at www.LionSports.net or via the TuneIn Radio app.

Southeastern (2-9) is coming off an emotional 67-64 loss this past Tuesday at Florida A&M, which saw Dimi Cook's potential game-tying shot rattle off the rim at the buzzer.

Zay Jackson, a native of Hammond, Louisiana, leads Southeastern in scoring this season with an average of 11.5 points per game and is third in the Southland Conference with 5.0 assists per game. Joshua Filmore (8.5 ppg), a junior from Orlando, Florida, and Cook (7.0 ppg), a freshman from Gulfport, Mississippi, round out the Lions' top healthy scorers.

This season Southeastern is shooting 43.5 percent (261-of-600) from the floor, including 32.3 percent (70-of-217) from 3-point range. The Lions are 153-of-248 (61.7 percent) from the free throw line and have been out-rebounded by opponents, on average, 35.5-to-34.6 per game.

Georgia Tech (7-3) is coming off a 75-61 loss Saturday afternoon at in-state rival Georgia.

Marcus Georges-Hunt (14.8 ppg) leads four starters in double-figure scoring for the Yellow Jackets, including Charles Mitchell (12.8 ppg, 11.9 rebounds per game), the fourth-best rebounder and leading double-double man in the nation, Adam Smith (11.7 ppg) and Nick Jacobs (10.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg).

Georgia Tech is shooting 45.7 percent (285-of-623) from the floor, including 34.4 percent (62-of-180) from 3-point range. The Yellow Jackets are 154-of-209 (73.7 percent) from the free throw line and have out-rebounded opponents, on average, 42.3-to-31.9 per game.

Southeastern, which travels to Jackson State on Jan. 30 for its next action, returns to the University Center Jan. 4 to open conference play against defending Southland Conference champion Stephen F. Austin.

Courtside Top Cat seats are $25 for an individual game. General admission tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children (age 3-12). Southeastern students will be admitted free to home games with a valid university ID card.
