Lady Lions Drop Heartbreaker At Rival Nicholls

SLU falls in five

THIBODAUX, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball squad dropped a five-set decision in Southland Conference play to in-state rival Nicholls, 21-25, 20-25, 27-25, 25-17, 15-4, Tuesday at Stopher Gym.

Southeastern (12-17, 6-9 Southland) took the first two sets and led in the third, 24-22, before Nicholls (9-18, 4-11 Southland) rallied for a win in its final home match of the 2015 season.

Landry Bullock (14 kills), Madi Odom (13 kills, 18 digs) and Mikayla Shippy (36 assists, 12 digs) led the Lady Lion offensive attack. For Odom, who recorded a double-double, both totals were career highs.

Monica Ramon led five players in double-digit digs with a career-high 29. Brooke Balser (16) and Macey Stock (12) joined Ramon, Odom and Shippy in double figures for Southeastern.

Anna Niederhauser posted double-double numbers (25 kills, 12 digs) to lead the Colonels. Alyse Barclay (20 assists), Ainsley Marroccoli (13 assists) and Lucija Barac (12 assists) split setting duties. Stephanie Tobison (24), Alexa Perry (16) and Kaci Eaton (16) turned in double-figure dig totals.

Southeastern returns Thursday to the University Center for a 7 p.m. conference match against Central Arkansas.
