HAMMOND, La. – Two games into the annual Heart of a Lion Fall World Series at Southeastern Louisiana the series is split evenly between the Inglorious BASEterds and the Sons of Pitches.
So far the visiting team has won both games. The Inglorious BASEterds took Game One with some offensive work Thursday against the bullpen for a 7-5 win. Friday the Sons of Pitches took advantage of a throwing error in the ninth inning to score a pair of unearned runs in a 4-2 win.
"We've competed really well the last two days," Riser said. "You see some veterans stepping up, some new guys stepping up. It's the Fall World Series. Payton Robinson, Derrick Mount and Cliff Hurst competed in a situation where it was tight and there was a lot of pressure. The way they handled it makes for a bright future come springtime."
First pitch for Game Three is slated for 1 p.m. Saturday, weather pending. The Halloween festivities will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a home run derby. Batting practice, in costume, will follow. A family-friendly atmosphere with candy and treats will provide a safe Trick-or-Treat alternative leading up to the first pitch.
Game Four, slated for Monday, and Wednesday's final game will both begin at 6 p.m.
Admission is free to all Heart of a Lion Fall World Series games at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. Live stats and streaming video (subscription-based) will be available for Monday's game only. Links for both will be available on the baseball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
