Lady Lions Fall At Central Arkansas

Southeastern falls prey to Sugar Bear rally

CONWAY, Ark. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team dropped a Southland Conference match Saturday at Central Arkansas, 25-21, 25-15, 25-10.

Central Arkansas (9-9, 5-1 Southland) won for the seventh-consecutive match after rallying from a five-point deficit in the first set against Southeastern (7-10, 1-2 Southland).

The Lady Lions built a 14-9 lead in the initial set, expanding a three-point advantage with a kill from Landry Bullock and a Central Arkansas attack error. After a block by Bullock and Veronica Turk made the score 21-19 in favor of Southeastern, the Sugar Bears scored six straight points to close out the set.

Bullock and Madi Odom led the Lady Lions with seven and six kills, respectively. Haley Baker handed out 12 assists and Mikayla Shippy chipped in an additional 10 for Southeastern. Veronica Turk had a hand in five of the team's eight blocks. Odom and Monica Ramon tied for the team lead with seven digs.

Heather Schnars (12), who turned in a double-double, and Megan Nash (11) led the Sugar Bear offense in kills while Amy South dished out 33 assists. Schnars also served up a match-high five aces and recorded 13 digs to lead all players. Allie Kemp added an additional 11 digs for Central Arkansas.

Southeastern continues its three-match Southland Conference road trip with contests Tuesday at McNeese State and Oct. 10 at the University of New Orleans before returning home to host Stephen F. Austin the Thursday of homecoming week (Oct. 15).
