HAMMOND, La. – Middle blocker
Landry Bullock tied a career high with 19 kills Thursday in Southeastern Louisiana's Southland Conference win over rival Nicholls, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 26-24, at the University Center.
Southeastern (11-13, 5-5 Southland) snapped a two-match skid to even its conference record while Nicholls (6-17, 1-10 Southland) returned to the loss column after picking up its first Southland win of the season last time out.
Bullock, a junior from Spring, Texas, recorded six of her 19 kills in the first set. The Lady Lions fell behind by six points, 10-4, before starting a rally. A kill by
Parrie Hartley, followed by back-to-back kills from
Sarah Friedman, put Southeastern back on track.
An 11-3 run put the Lady Lions on top with junior
Madi Odom serving up five-straight points during that stretch.
Nicholls rebounded to take the second set, evening up the match. Southeastern wrapped up the victory by taking the final two sets from the Colonels.
Bullock was one of three Lady Lions to post double-figure kills. She was joined by
Veronica Turk (11) and Friedman (11).
Haley Baker (32 assists) and
Mikayla Shippy (21 assists) split setting duties.
Monica Ramon (15),
Macey Stock (14) and
Brooke Balser (12) all tallied double-digit digs for Southeastern. For Stock, a freshman from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, it was also a career best.
Anna Niederhauser (15) led three Colonels in double-digit kills, recording a double-double as well with 10 digs. Kaci Eaton also recorded a double-double, contributing 11 kills and 12 digs. Kali Schwartz chipped in 10 kills while Lucia Barac (20 assists) and Alyse Barclay (19 assists) split setting duties for Nicholls. Stephanie Tobison posted 12 digs, tying Eaton for the team high.
