HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball squad opens a three-game homestand at the University Center, its longest of the season, Monday at 7 p.m. in a Southland Conference contest against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Southeastern (5-13, 2-3 Southland), which has played the fewest overall home games in the conference, returns to the court for the first time since dropping a 57-50 decision at Lamar this past Monday. A&M-Corpus Christi (9-8, 4-1 Southland) plays at the University of New Orleans in a conference contest Saturday.
The Lions' game can be heard in the Hammond, Louisiana, area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online and either the KSLU or TuneIn Radio smartphone app. Live statistics will be provided, as will streaming video on LionVision (subscription required). Zay Jackson was the only Lion to reach double digits, scoring 19 points.
Joshua Filmore scored seven and
DeVonte Upson added six points to go with a game-high 12 rebounds.
Jackson (16.8 points per game), Filmore (13.5 ppg) and Upson (9.4 ppg) lead Southeastern on offense. Jackson (4.3 assists per game) and Filmore (2.3 apg) have split time running the point. Upson is averaging a team-best 7.8 rebounds per contest, fourth most in the Southland Conference. Filmore's 2.7 three-pointers made per game leads the conference.
The Lions are shooting 43.4 percent from the floor (440-of-1,013), 32.7 percent from three-point range (119-of-364) and 67.3 percent on free throws (224-of-333). Southeastern is averaging 67.9 points and 33.2 rebounds per game.
A&M-Corpus Christi heads into its game at UNO having defeated Northwestern State, 88-76, this past Tuesday.
Preseason All-Southland first teamer John Jordan leads the Islanders, averaging 15.9 points and 5.2 assists per game. Rashawn Thomas is second in scoring (13.1 ppg) and leads the team in rebounding (8.9 rpg). Thomas' rebounding numbers are the second best in the conference. Brandon Pye (10.9 ppg) also chips in double-digit points.
The Islanders are shooting 44.6 percent from the floor (371-of-832), 31.9 percent from three-point range (83-of-260) and 69.1 percent on free throws (320-of-463). A&M-Corpus Christi is averaging 67.4 points and 32.5 rebounds per game.

Courtside Top Cat seats are $25. General admission tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children (age 3-12). Southeastern students will be admitted free with a valid university ID card.
Following the A&M-Corpus Christi game, Southeastern hosts in-state foes Northwestern State and McNeese State. Saturday the Lions will celebrate Military Appreciation Day at 7 p.m. against the Demons of Northwestern State. The Feb. 2 contest against McNeese State is Southeastern's annual Jam The Jungle game with free food and t-shirts distributed to the first 250 SLU students in attendance.
