HBU Snaps Lady Lion Win Streak

Southeastern falls in three sets

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team dropped a three-set Southland Conference decision Saturday at the University Center, falling to Houston Baptist, 25-23, 25-20, 25-21, and snapping a two-match win streak.

Southeastern (4-10, 2-1 Southland) was looking to finish off the week with a 3-0 record, but Houston Baptist (7-9, 2-0 Southland) fought off every comeback attempt. The Lady Lions led 20-19 in both the first and third sets, but could not hold on to the momentum.

Parrie Hartley (13 kills) and Veronica Turk (11 kills, .474 attack percentage) led the Lady Lion offense with help from Mikayla Shippy (27 assists). Morgan Todd posted a career-best 30 digs and Brooke Balser added 12 more for Southeastern. Rachael Bunn had a hand in five of the Lady Lions' six total blocks.

Jessica Wooten led all players with 14 kills, adding a team-high 20 digs for a double-double, and Bailey Keith added 11 kills for the Huskies. Kayla Armer handed out 36 assists. Haley Hoffman recorded 16 digs. Blair Gillard and Kieth led five players with multiple blocks.

Southeastern travels to Jackson State for a non-conference match Thursday at 7 p.m.
