Southeastern Hosts LSU to Close Home Schedule

Lady Lions, Tigers meet at 6 p.m.

HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will host in-state foe LSU on Wednesday at 6 p.m. to close out its regular season home schedule at North Oak Park.

Live stats for the game between the Lady Lions (19-25) and the visiting Tigers (31-20) will be available at LionSports.net, where LionVision subscribers will also be able to access a live video stream. Weather permitting, the Southeastern Channel (Charter Channel 18) will televised the game on tape delay.

Wednesday will also be a Cane's Challenge Night at North Oak Park. If the Lady Lions score three runs or more, fans can take their ticket to either Hammond Raising Cane's by the end of business on Thursday to receive a free combo with the purchase of another. 

Southeastern enters the game with a .255 team batting average. Sophomore outfielder Katie Lacour leads the team with a .399 batting average, 55 hits and 27 runs scored. Lacour (.481, 6th) and sophomore designated player Amber Sather (.497, 4th) are both among the Southland Conference leaders in on-base percentage. Sather has tied single-season school records by drawing 34 walks and being hit by 13 pitches.

Junior third baseman Megan Moore (9 HR, 37 RBI), Sather (5 HR, 23 RBI), senior outfielder Jessie Browne (2 HR, 21 RBI) and freshman catcher Lacey Fritz (4 HR, 19 RBI) are the top power threats for SLU. Browne leads the team with eight doubles, followed by senior second baseman Megan McCollum with seven.

In the circle, Southeastern heads into Wednesday's game with a 4.11 team earned run average. Sophomore Taylor Bishop (7-8, 3.74 ERA, 2 saves), junior Spencer Adkinson (6-7, 3.20 ERA) and senior Rachael Hellyer (1-6, 5.41 ERA, 2 saves) have split the majority of the time in the circle for the Lady Lions.

The Southeastern pitching staff will be taking on an LSU lineup that has a .310 team batting average. Junior outfielder A.J. Andrews leads the team with a .341 batting average, while freshman catcher/infielder Sahvanna Jaquish (.326, 11 HR, 41 RBI), sophomore infielder Bianka Bell (.324, 9 HR, 37 RBI) and senior infielder Allison Falcon (.324, 7 HR, 30 RBI) are the team's other top hitters.

LSU enters the contest with a 3.04 team earned run average. Freshman pitcher Baylee Corbello (15-7, 2.66 ERA) and senior Ashley Czechner (11-11, 3.69 ERA, 1 save) have handled the majority of the work in the circle for the Tigers.

Southeastern will close out the regular season this weekend, traveling to Northwestern State for a three-game series in Natchitoches. The series opens with a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and concludes with a 12 p.m. contest on Sunday.
