Lions Host South Alabama, Alcorn State In Midweek Contests

Fireworks scheduled for Tuesday's game

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana baseball team wraps up its current six-game homestand this week, hosting South Alabama (Tuesday) and Alcorn State (Wednesday) at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6 p.m.

A postgame fireworks display is scheduled following Tuesday's game against South Alabama (13-13) and Wednesday's game against Alcorn (5-25) is a Dinner at the Diamond night for Southeastern students (free food while supplies last).

Fans will also have a chance at each game to enjoy the Raising Cane's Challenge. If the Lions score five or more runs against either South Alabama or Alcorn State, fans presenting their ticket stub (or student coupon), and purchasing a combo at a participating Raising Cane's, will receive a free combo of equal or lesser value (through the following day).

Both games can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online and either the KSLU or TuneIn Radio smartphone apps. Fans can keep up with the contests through live statistics or by following SLUathletics on Twitter. Streaming video is available on LionVision, Southeastern's subscription-based video stream. Southeastern (16-11) has lost its last two games, dropping a Southland Conference series this past weekend to Houston Baptist.

Fisher (.357), Godbold (.333), Roberson (.319), Daniel Midyett (.308) and Kevin Carr (.300) lead Southeastern at the plate. Brett Hoffman, who owns a 10-game hitting streak, leads the team with eight doubles. Godbold has a team-high 24 RBIs.

The Lions are hitting .275 as team and have been successful on 45-of-70 stolen base attempts. Southeastern's pitching staff has compiled a 3.05 ERA, fanning 197 batters in 242 innings pitched.

Sophomore left-hander Kyle Cedotal (0-1, 1.50) earns the Tuesday start for the Lions, drawing senior righty Matt Bell (2-3, 6.15) for the Jaguars. Southeastern has not announced a starting pitcher for Wednesday's game.

Cole Gleason leads South Alabama at the plate with a .301 average and his nine RBIs are tied for the second-most on the squad. Hayden Jones leads the team with 10 RBIs. The Jaguars are hitting .240 as a team and have been successful on four of 15 stolen base attempts. Their pitching staff has compiled a 3.80 ERA and fanned 176 batters in 232.1 innings pitched.

South Alabama was swept in a three-game, Sun Belt series at home this past weekend by UT Arlington. Alcorn State took two of three games in its conference series against Jackson State.

Moses Charles (.383), Jared Listach (.321) and Ashton Lewis (.306) lead the Braves at the plate. Earl Burl leads the team in home runs (three) and is second on the squad with 11 RBIs. Listach leads the team with 12 RBIs.

Alcorn is hitting .250 as a team and has been successful on 53-of-76 stolen base attempts. The Braves pitching staff has compiled a 7.85 ERA, walking 165 batters and fanning 120 in 253.1 innings pitched.
