Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana baseball team fell, 11-3, Sunday to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the Southland Conference series finale at Chapman Field.
Southeastern (14-9, 4-2 Southland) struggled defensively, committing a school-record tying eight errors. Eight of A&M-Corpus Christi's 11 runs were unearned.
The Islanders (11-15, 3-3 Southland) scored one run in the first inning, two in the second and three in the third, taking a 6-0 lead before Southeastern could answer.
In the fourth,
Andrew Godbold extended his hitting streak to 11-consecutive games with a leadoff double to left-center field.
Brett Hoffman followed a popup with a single to center, putting runners on the corners. A wild pitch allowed Hoffman to take second.
Daniel Midyett drove in both Godbold and Hoffman with a single to left-center.
Islander freshman Devin Skapura (3-2) earned the win while
Kyle Keller (2-1) was saddled with the loss, although only one of the eight runs he allowed was earned.
Southeastern returns home Tuesday to host Jackson State at 6 p.m., opening a six-game homestand at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
