SLU to Travel to Fellow Southland Champion Sam Houston State for First Round Playoff Game

League foes meet for the second straight year in playoffs on Saturday at 1 p.m.

HAMMOND, La. – The Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana football team will travel to face co-league champion Sam Houston State in the first round of the NCAA FCS playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 1 p.m., the NCAA announced on the FCS Selection show Sunday morning on ESPNU.
 
Southeastern (9-3, 7-1 Southland) will be making its second consecutive trip to the NCAA FCS Playoffs. Last season, the Lions defeated Sam Houston State, 30-29, in the second round and fell to New Hampshire, 20-17, in the NCAA quarterfinals.
 
The winner of the first round game between the Lions and Bearkats (8-4, 7-1 Southland) will face No. 3 seed and Ohio Valley Conference champion Jacksonville State in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. on ESPN3.
 
Saturday's game will be televised on ESPN3. The contest will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the Internet at www.LionSports.net, as well as as well as affiliates and Northshore Broadcasting stations Kajun 107.1 FM (WHMD) and The Highway 104.7 FM (WJSH). Live stats, provided by the Bearkats, will be accessible at LionSports.net.

Southeastern and Sam Houston State are two of three Southland schools representing the league in the FCS playoffs. Stephen F. Austin will travel to Northern Iowa for a 7 p.m. first-round game in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
