HAMMOND, La. – A career-high 41 digs from libero
Morgan Todd anchored a stingy Southeastern Louisiana defense Tuesday as the Lady Lions shut down rival Nicholls in four sets, 25-23, 21-25, 25-13, 26-24, at the University Center.
The Mandeville, Louisiana, native helped Southeastern (11-16, 8-7 Southland) hold the Colonels to a .104 attack percentage (32 kills, 18 errors, 134 total attempts) over the first three sets. Nicholls (9-19, 5-10 Southland) out hit the Lady Lions .241 to .229 in the fourth set, but Southeastern still polished off the Colonels for the victory.
Tiffany Thomas' 14 kills led the Southeastern offense.
Landry Bullock added 10 more and
Mikayla Shippy handed out a team-high 36 assists. Thomas also posted 17 digs, recording the second double-double of her career.
Kacey Freeman (15) and
Parrie Hartley (13) reached double-digit digs as well.
Shelby Devlin posted a match-high five total blocks.
Kaci Eaton led all players with 20 kills and Kayla Burling added an additional 12 for the Colonels. Alyse Barclay dished out 44 assists. Nicholls' Kalynn Egea (27), Stephanie Tobison (16) and Eaton (15) all turned in double-digit digs.
Southeastern travels to Central Arkansas (17-10, 12-3 Southland), Thursday, to wrap up the regular season. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. The Sugar Bears were swept in three sets, Tuesday, at Houston Baptist.
