Lady Lions Fall At Central Arkansas In Regular Season Finale

Southeastern finishes with a .500 conference record

CONWAY, Ark. – Despite winning the first set, the Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team dropped its regular season finale Thursday at Central Arkansas, 22-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-15.

Southeastern (11-17, 8-8 Southland) wraps up the regular season with its most conference victories since the 2002 season. UCA (18-10, 13-3 Southland) will finish in second place in the Southland Conference standings, ending its run as the two-time defending conference champions.

The Lady Lions recorded a .213 attack percentage (38 kills, 15 errors, 108 total attempts), hitting above .200 for the eighth time this season. It marks the first loss for Southeastern this season when recording an attack percentage above that mark.

Tiffany Thomas led the team with 14 kills, winding up in double digits for the third-consecutive match and the ninth time overall this season, and Mikayla Shippy handed out 29 assists.

Southeastern recorded eight total blocks as a team. Rachael Bunn had a hand in five of them and Thomas posted four total blocks. Morgan Todd tied a match high with 19 digs.

Alicia Dittrich (14), Heather Schnars (13) and Fulani Petties (11) all turned in double-digit kill performances for the Sugar Bears. Amy South dished out 49 assists. Shelbee Berringer posted 19 digs.

Southeastern will be the No. 7 seed in the Southland Conference Volleyball Tournament that runs Nov. 21-23 in Natchitoches, Louisiana. The Lady Lions will face UCA again, the No. 2 seed, at 11 a.m. in Prather Coliseum.
