HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana senior quarterback
Bryan Bennett has been named to the College Football Performance Awards FCS National Performer of the Year Watch List in an announcement from CFPA on Wednesday.
Bennett, a Granada Hills, California native, was named to his second Watch List of the season. Bennett was named to the Walter Payton Award Watch List prior to the season.
Bennett is one of five Southland Conference student-athletes on the list. He is joined by Lamar quarterback Caleb Berry, McNeese State quarterback Daniel Sams, Northwestern State quarterback Zach Adkins and Stephen F. Austin running back Gus Johnson.
In his second season with the Lions, Bennett has thrown for 1,598 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also done damage with his feet, rushing for a team-high 563 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has twice been named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Bennett and the Lions will be back in action on Saturday, facing Stephen F. Austin at 3 p.m. in Nacogdoches, Texas. The contest will be televised on the Southland Television Network (Charter Channel 16 in the Hammond area), as well as online at
www.Southland.org and ESPN3. The contest will also be broadcast live in the Hammond area on the flagship station of Southeastern Football, KSLU-FM (90.9), as well as affiliates and Northshore Broadcasting stations Kajun 107.1 FM (WHMD) and The Highway 104.7 FM (WJSH).
