"We had to work hard to generate a positive result today," Southeastern head coach
Blake Hornbuckle said. "Northwestern State played very well and was very organized, so we're pleased that we were able to persevere and come out with a victory.
"Cheyenne was excellent in the midfield today, scoring our first goal and playing Bri for the game-winner," Hornbuckle added. "Bri was again a handful to deal with up top and showed great composure to score the game-winner early in overtime. We continue to be pleased with the efforts of
Chelsea Villaescusa and her ability to defend players 1-v-1."
The Lady Lions jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first half. Maxwell deposited a feed from Babcock into the left corner of the net to give SLU the early advantage.
Northwestern State evened the match in the 66

Casey Jeanfreau to knot the score at 1-1.
Southeastern answered with just under 10 minutes left in regulation. Utreras earned a penalty kick try and the Brampton, Ontario, Canada native's fourth goal of the season put the Lady Lions up, 2-1.
NSU would not go away, however, as Briscoe finished a pass from Cache Haley to tie the score with just over four minutes left in regulation to force overtime.

The Lady Lions will return home to host Sam Houston State on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Southeastern Soccer Complex. Sunday will also be Senior Day, as Babcock and Villaescusa will be honored prior to the match.
