Lady Lions Drop Four-Setter At Northwestern State

Southeastern returns home for pair of Southland matches this week

NATCHITOCHES, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team took the opening set of Saturday's Southland Conference match, but Northwestern State came roaring back to take the final three for a, 14-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-23, win over the Lady Lions at Prather Coliseum.

Southeastern (7-13, 4-4 Southland) posted the best single-set attack percentage by either team, hitting .375 in the first set (15 kills, three errors, 32 total attempts), but could not maintain that offensive production over the course of the match.

Northwestern State (9-12, 6-2 Southland) fought off its early offensive woes to grab the final three sets, coming back from a five-point deficit to take the final set.

Sarah Friedman tied a match high with 11 kills and Rachael Bunn added 10 more for Southeastern. Mikayla Shippy led all players with 34 assists. Bunn and Tiffany Thomas each had a hand in five of the Lady Lions' nine team blocks. Brooke Balser and Morgan Todd each posted 12 digs. All 14 Lady Lions saw action in the match.

Glynna Johnson and Mackenzie Neely led Northwestern State with 11 kills apiece. Emily Johnson recorded a double-double with 23 assists and 11 digs. Natalie Jaeger added an additional 17 assists. Bailey Martin, the Lady Demon libero, led all players with 21 digs while Stacey DiFrancesco added 11 more for Northwestern State.

Southeastern returns home to host Incarnate Word, Thursday, at the University Center.
