Box Score HOUSTON, Texas – Dre Evans laid the ball up and in the hoop with 8:11 remaining Saturday night to give Southeastern Louisiana the lead for good in a 60-52 comeback win at Sharp Gym against Southland Conference-newcomer Houston Baptist.
Evans scored 17 points to lead all scorers and
JaMichael Hawkins added 15 points for Southeastern (9-10, 4-4 Southland).
Onochie Ochie led the Lions with seven rebounds.
Both teams struggled to shoot the ball in the first half. The Lions were 9-of-26 (34.6 percent) and HBU was 11-of-30 (36.7 percent) from the floor, but neither team moved above the 30-percent mark until the final minutes of the half.
Southeastern's improved shooting in the second half (11-of-23, 47-.8 percent) coincided with a defensive shift to the press and the comeback was on. Down by nine with 14:38 to play, the Lions outscored HBU (4-16, 1-7 Southland) 29-12 the remainder of the game.
Reveal Chukwujekwu led the Huskies with 12 points and eight rebounds. Cody Joyce added 10 points and eight rebounds. HBU finished the game 19-of 59 shooting (32.2 percent).
