Box Score HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Wrapping up a four-match road trip, the Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team dropped a Tuesday contest at Southern Miss, 25-14, 25-20, 25-21.
Despite never leading in the first set, the Lady Lions bounced back with a pair of close sets to close out the contest. Southern Miss (5-2) is the third of four Conference USA opponents this season for Southeastern (2-6).
Tiffany Thomas led the Lady Lions with 12 kills while
Rachael Bunn chipped in eight kills and three block assists. Freshman
Lindsay Grace led the team with four total blocks.
Morgan Todd recorded a team-high 16 digs, and a pair of assists, while senior
Megan McMillin added seven digs.
Mikayla Shippy dished out 29 assists for Southeastern in the three sets.
Quinci Hayward led Southern Miss with 15 kills while Elise Ames contributed nine kills and four total blocks. Kristen Fleming handed out 38 assists, and chipped in nine digs to the defensive effort, while Mary Pursell led the Golden Eagles with 18 digs.
Southeastern returns to action Friday, hosting four teams in the Tangi Tourism Lion Classic at the University Center. The tournament will feature five matches, beginning at 9 a.m., during each of the event's two days.
In-state schools Louisiana Tech and Southern, who competed last season in the inaugural Lion Classic, return for the 2013 edition. New this season to the tournament are Nebraska-Omaha and Stetson. More information, including the
