FRISCO, Texas – With a new football season drawing closer every day, Cox Sports Television will air encore presentations of 2012 Southland Conference football games in Tuesday primetime for eight consecutive weeks.
Replays for all games will be re-aired at 7 p.m CST.
A pair of Southeastern games will be part of the eight-week schedule beginning on July 9, when an encore showing of the Lions' 31-21 victory at Lamar will be aired in a nine-state area.
Robert Alford, who was selected by Atlanta in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown – the third-longest punt return in school history – while adding a late interception to pace Southeastern.
The Lions will return to the air on July 23 when their 27-22 victory over in-state rival Northwestern State will be featured. Southeastern, which moved to 3-0 in Southland Conference play for the first time since joining the league as a gridiron member in 2005, received a balanced effort on offense as freshman
Xavier Roberson carried 15 times for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
Nathan Stanley completed 17 of 27 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown for the Lions while the Southeastern defense recorded six sacks and forced a pair of turnovers.
The schedule opens July 2, when CST looks back at the thriller between league co-champions Sam Houston State and Central Arkansas. Bears' quarterback Wynrick Smothers engineered two scoring drives in the final five minutes to help his team pick up a 24-20 win over the Bearkats, a victory that ultimately allowed UCA to earn the Southland's automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs.
Other encore presentations include the Battle of the Piney Woods between Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State (July 16) and Stephen F. Austin's homecoming victory against Nicholls State (July 30).
Matt Viator's 50th career win re-airs Aug. 6. Cowboys' tailback Marcus Wiltz ran for 111 yards and a touchdown in the 35-24 triumph over Stephen F. Austin. The Aug. 13 encore presentation features Central Arkansas beating Northwestern State, which ends with the Bears lifting a championship trophy over their heads. The CST encore schedule concludes on Aug. 20 with the Battle for Chief Caddo, a 34-17 win for the Lumberjacks against the Demons.
The 2013 season kicks off nine days later on Aug. 29 with Southeastern playing host to Ohio Valley Conference member Southeast Missouri in one of three games involving league teams.
The New Orleans-based Cox Sports Television launched on Oct. 28, 2002 in front of 450,000 Louisiana viewers. CST has grown more than 400 percent to 2 million in the nearly 11 years since launch, making it one of the fastest growing regional sports networks in the south.
The 24-hour regional sports network is currently carried in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, Oklahoma, Missouri and Virginia. CST is owned and operated by Cox Communications Louisiana, LLC. Initially targeted to be a Louisiana sports network, CST has secured collegiate, professional and high school events that have expanded the networks reach throughout the south.
