Lions Face Hartford, Troy This Weekend

Southeastern faces Hartford for the first time

Harry Slade leads Southeastern into a three-game series a Troy
TROY, Ala. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team travels to Troy for three games this weekend, including a pair of neutral site contests against Hartford.

Southeastern (8-4) takes on Hartford (0-8) Saturday at 1 p.m., and again Sunday at 10 a.m., before facing host Troy (8-3) Sunday at 2 p.m. The Lions will be the home team in the first contest and visitor in the final two.

Sunday's games can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), on the internet through the Southeastern athletics website as well as on the KSLU iPhone and TuneIn Radio apps. Live stats, as well as a live video stream through LionVision, will be available for all three games of the series. After sweeping a three-game series from Texas Southern this past weekend, including the fifth no-hitter in school history, the Lions dropped a pair of games at Ole Miss.

Harry Slade (.415), Aaron Haag (.317), and Ladd Rhodes (.300) lead Southeastern at the plate. Haag has a team-best 13 RBIs while Slade has swiped a team-leading six bases.

Junior right-hander Sean Kennel (1-0, 1.74) will take to the mound for the Lions in the opener against Hartford left-hander Sean Newcomb (0-1, 11.37). Freshman right-hander Tate Scioneaux (2-0, 3.06) will throw for Southeastern in the Sunday morning game against Hartford. The Hawks have not named a starter for the contest, but lefty Ryan Lukach (0-1, 21.21) is a possibility.

Senior left-hander Jordan Hymel (1-1, 4.70) draws the starting against Troy left-hander Shane McCain (2-0, 4.50).

Trey Stover (.385) leads Hartford in hitting while Brady Sheetz has driven in a team-leading four runs. The Hawks have dropped a pair of four game series at Campbell and James Madison this season.

Troy is led at the plate by Danny Collins (.526, four home runs and 20 RBIs). The Trojans took two of three games from Southern Miss this past weekend.

Southeastern returns to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field for a 6 p.m. game Tuesday against Tulane. The contest is the annual Pack the Pat game and fans are encouraged to wear gold.
