HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team hosts in-state rival Tulane at 6 p.m. Tuesday for Pack The Pat Night at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. It is the first of two-consecutive games between the teams.
Tuesday and Wednesday's games can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), on the internet through the Southeastern athletics website as well as on the KSLU iPhone and TuneIn Radio apps. Live stats, as well as a live video stream through LionVision, will be available for all three games of the series. Southeastern students, as always, get into the game free with a student ID. Fraternity and sorority members can also earn points toward Greek Week by attending the game. There will be free t-shirts and Raising Cane's for the first 300 Southeastern students.
All fans are encouraged to wear gold. There will be postgame fireworks and fans purchasing their 2013 football season tickets at the game will receive free passes to the Lions' upcoming Southland Conference home series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, April 26-28.
Southeastern went 2-3 this past week, dropping a pair of games at Ole Miss mid-week before grabbing a pair from Hartford. The Lions wrapped up the week dropping a tight, 3-1 decision at Troy.
Senior right fielder
Harry Slade continues to lead Southeastern at the plate with a .412 average, fifth-best in the Southland Conference. Freshman catcher
Jameson Fisher leads the club with four doubles after knocking a pair this past Sunday at Troy.
Aaron Haag and
Sam Roberson have each hit one home run while Haag leads the team with 14 runs batted in. Slade has swiped a team-best seven bases in nine attempts.
Freshman left-hander
Kyle Cedotal (2-2, 3.77) earns the start, his second this season against the Green Wave. He suffered the loss after allowing three runs, all earned, in a career-high 5.1 innings pitched at Tulane back on Feb. 19.
The Green Wave will counter with sophomore right-hander Randy LeBlanc (0-1, 3.86), a graduate of Covington High School. LeBlanc earned a win at Southeastern last season, allowing one run in three innings of work March 27, 2012.
Senior infielder Brennan Middleton leads Tulane at the plate with a .377 average. First baseman Sean Potkay has a team-leading six doubles and is one of four players with one home run. Andrew Garner leads the team with 14 runs batted in while Brandon Boudreaux has a team-high four stolen bases.
Tulane split a two-game, mid-week series with Southland Conference foe Northwestern State before winning two out of three games with High Point this past weekend.
Southeastern faces Tulane again Wednesday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium in New Orleans, La. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
